It’s one of the standout moments for football fans every pre-season.
Harbouring hopes and dreams of a season campaign ahead, the kit launch represents a key marker in the build-up to the new season.
But which National League side has the best home kit this year?
Aldershot Town

Kicking things off with this classy number from Aldershot Town, manufactured by Errea, which pays homage to a classic Shots shirt from 1992.
That includes a retro-style crest – the original badge taken from Aldershot’s 1992 strip.
Blue collars and cuffs cap off a classy-looking design, with the names of supporters even woven into the detailing.

Altrincham

Traditional in parts, innovative in others, Altrincham’s 2022/23 Puma shirt combines new with old.
A sharp v-neck design is coupled with Altrincham’s usual red and white stripe design.
The standout feature on this season’s Robins strip is the three black pinstripes running adjacent through the red stripes. Classy stuff.

Boreham Wood

Dubbed as a ‘75th Anniversary’ kit, a hectic Boreham Wood home shirt doesn’t make for a pleasant experience.
A garish-looking ‘Wood Army’ sponsor straddles the main body, with various other sponsors and sections of text squeezed elsewhere.
By no means a shocker, but the desire to fit as much on the front of the shirt prevents Boreham Wood from scoring high.

Bromley

From one shirt that does too much, to another that does just enough, there’s little to hate about this fresh Bromley 2022/23 kit.
The classic Kappa logo features on the shoulder, with black detailing complementing an otherwise clean-cut Bromley effort.
What’s more, a sponsor which doesn’t detract away from the overall look of the kit only adds to the classy feel.

Chesterfield

An inoffensive blue number manufactured by Puma will be worn by title-hopefuls Chesterfield for the 2022/23 season.
A popular choice for club’s sponsored by Puma this season, Chesterfield’s home shirt is another incarnation of the ‘Teamglory’ template.
Without much else to say, Chesterfield’s 2022/23 strip does the job, but without that extra touch of individuality, its rating is capped at a solid seven.

Dagenham & Redbridge

Sporting their traditional red and blue colourway, Dagenham & Redbridge will sport a vibrant-looking home kit for the 2022/23 campaign.
Lined detailing on the shoulders adds an extra layer to an otherwise simple Nike crew-neck shirt.
Marks are deducted for a sponsor which fails to complement the overall design, as its colours do not match those seen elsewhere in the shirt.
Rating: 7.5
Dorking Wanderers

Kicking off life as a fifth-tier club for the first time, Dorking Wanderers have made a statement with their maiden National League kit.
With an Atletico Madrid-style red, white and blue colourway, the Macron manufactured kit combines the three colours to create a classy kit.
Red and white stripes are coupled with blue detailing around the collar. Splendid effort.
Rating: 8.5/10
Eastleigh
Yet to announce either their home or away kit for the 2022/23 season, Eastleigh supporters are still waiting for their new strips to drop.
Non League Daily believe the shirts will be made by Kappa again, with the club having signed a long-term deal with the Italian manufacturer until 2023.

Gateshead

Back in the National League, Gateshead have not been afraid to push the boat out with their 2022/23 home shirt, ditching the traditional black and white stripes.
Instead, the Heed have opted for a grey design that encompasses darker brush stroke detailing.
An interesting decision, there is a sense that it doesn’t quite feel like a home shirt, perhaps one more suited for an alternative strip instead.

FC Halifax Town

Clean looking, the FC Halifax Town home shirt for the 2022/23 campaign is manufactured by Adidas and features a blue and white colourway.
The traditional Adidas three-stripe design straddles the shoulders, with an abstract design providing depth to the strip.

Maidenhead United

One side who are not ditching its traditional black and white stripes for the 2022/23 season are Maidenhead United, who will sport a home shirt manufactured by Uhlsport.
A v-neck collar is coupled with three thick black panels that separate a white shirt, with black cuffs around the sleeve.
Nothing bad to say about this number, but equally, there’s not much else to note about it either.

Maidstone United
Nothing to report on the Maidstone United 2022/23 kits, as the National League South champions are yet to release their new strips.
Black and amber is expected to feature on the home kit.
The colourway for the away kit is unknown as of now.
Notts County

Another black and white stripe design, but this time a club prepared to take a risk with a traditional design.
Notts County have swapped block stripes for pinstripes instead, with black sleeves capping off an interesting 2022/23 Puma home shirt.
A busy-looking sponsor takes away from an otherwise strong home shirt, deducting the Magpies’ marks for their 2022/23 kit.

Oldham Athletic

Making their debut in the National League, it may not be where Oldham Athletic want to be, but at least they’ll be doing it in some style.
A synonym for classy, Oldham’s home shirt is manufactured by Hummel and sports a unique leaf design.
Red and white detailing around the collar and cuffs cap off a splendid-looking shirt.

Scunthorpe United

Much like their fellow League Two dropouts in Oldham, Scunthorpe United are also making a statement with their 2022/23 home kit.
An eye-catching burgundy and sky blue half-and-half design is complemented by a stylish collar.
Diagonal detailing adds another impressive layer to one of the division’s finest 2022/23 kit.

Solihull Moors

After the disappointment of missing out on promotion to the Football League last season, a new look Solihull Moors are preparing an assault on the division this season.
Sporting a newly designed (and much-maligned) crest, there is also a change in kit manufacturer for Solihull, who will now have their kits made by Adidas.
In truth, there is not much this Solihull number offers, with a pretty dull yellow templated design not capturing the imagination. Meh.

Southend United

Fortune favours the bold, right? Well not if you’re the Southend United 2022/23 home kit.
It’s clear to see what Southend’s Macron strip was looking to achieve, but in truth, the application doesn’t live up to expectations.
A messy design is made all the worse by a complicated-looking collar. Not a great look for the Shrimpers.

Torquay United

Notorious for their stylish home strips, Torquay United have once again provided a belter for the 2022/23.
Manufactured by Puma, a predominately yellow design is coupled with blue accents.
Clean, fresh and an incredibly stylish look, few teams in the National League will boast a better looking kit than Torquay this season.

Wealdstone

There’s a lot to love about Wealdstone, it’s just a shame their 2022/23 home kit isn’t one of those things.
A simple blue shirt is somewhat ruined by a sublimated version of the Wealdstone badge that stretches across the shirt’s front.
Creating a dated feel to the shirt, Wealdstone will be hoping their performance on the pitch, doesn’t match that of the kit they’re wearing.
Rating: 5/10
Woking
To the background of much frustration from the Woking faithful, Cards fans are still waiting to see what their new kit will look like.
The third kit is the only Woking strip to be released, with a sharp black and white design providing an eye-catching combination.
There has been some news on the away strip, which is expected to be yellow and manufactured by Adidas.

Wrexham

Much anticipated, National League title favourites Wrexham delayed the release of their 2022/23 home shirt.
There are no major flaws with the kit, yet with such a simple design, it would be difficult to find one anyway.
A plain red design is matched with the increasingly iconic TikTok sponsor, along with cute green and white detailing around the sleeves.
Rating: 7/10
Yeovil Town

There hasn’t been much to shout about for Yeovil Town fans in recent years, yet their 2022/23 home kit does provide a touch of excitement for the Glovers.
Green and white stripes offer a simple, but effective home shirt manufactured by Hummel.
The iconic Hummel logo runs down the shoulders, capping off a smart-looking home shirt.

York City

One of the first clubs in the National League to announce their new 2022/23 home shirt, York City’s showstopping centenary kit steals all the headlines this season.
Paying tribute to the world-famous York Minster, the deep red design is rounded off by exquisite gold detailing.
The jury remains out on York’s ‘chocolate and cream’ away kit, but as far as their home strip is concerned, there’s only one clear winner in the National League.
